
The Women’s Affairs Unit hosts a seminar on the scourge of drugs and their detrimental effects on families and society.

Under the patronage of the esteemed University President, Dr. Mazen Al-Hassani, and the supervision of the respected Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Saif Al-Saadi, and based on the letter from the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the National Committee for Iraqi Women, numbered (W.M.C/2/15825), dated 28/3/2024. The Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with Continuing Education, organized a cultural seminar titled “The Scourge of Drugs and Their Impact on Families and Society,” delivered by Dr. Qasim Abdulridha Al-Shammari from the Drug Control Directorate. The seminar included an explanation of various types of drugs and their deadly effects on individuals, both physically and psychologically, as well as their impact on individual behavior and the disintegration and destruction of communities in general, and families in particular. On the other hand, the seminar addressed ways to combat this phenomenon, highlighting the significant role of families in curbing its spread, early detection, and treatment methods. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Qasim Al-Shammari discussed ways to communicate with the Drug Control Directorate and report suspicious cases or individuals involved in trafficking, dealing, or using prohibited substances. He also discussed Iraqi laws condemning these cases and the penalties imposed by Iraqi law. In conclusion, Dr. Qasim Al-Shammari wished everyone safety and well-being, urging them to stay away from these destructive behaviors that harm individuals, families, and futures.
